Try to explore all reviews and try to identify some patterns like If things are really surprisingly good, just tell this to yourself " Its too good to be true".ĭon't trust overall rating in the main page. How to identify reviews are manipulated or not? Some times candidate fall for manipulated ratings in the review portals. New employees / potential employees while switching the companies, they try to get multiple offers and then decide which company to join on their preferences. The first factor that comes in my mind is to attract talent. Hope the use of word 'P-hacking' is relevant as some recruiters & HRs are manipulating the company's rating to certain extent. I'm writing this article out my learning from of my experience and observations after listening to friends. I don't have proofs or I don't want to take names of companies who do such things. These kind of review portals suppose to provide transparency to to new employee, but these kind of sick practices in some companies reduce the trustworthiness of these portals. They are achieving it by either creating fake profiles, forcing newly joined employees & interns to give good / 5-star reviews in these review portals. HR & recruiters are desperately trying to pull up the stars in these review portals. Yes, apparently some companies are involved in manipulating the Employee rating in sites like Glassdoor, Ambition Box, Indeed & others. As per definition, Phacking is - Manipulation of statistics such that the desired outcome assumes "statistical significance", usually for the benefit of the study's sponsors. I first learned about this term from 'Last Week Tonight with John Oliver'. ![]() I'm sure you might be new to this team P-hacking, if you are not from Data science & research background. ![]()
